Ordering & Availability
Why do some colors sell out quickly?
We release eggs and chicks in limited batches based on what our flock can sustainably produce. Some colors, especially project lines, may be available only occasionally.
Do you restock on a schedule?
Not on a fixed schedule. Restocks depend on seasonal laying patterns, breeding plans, and flock health. The best way to stay informed is by joining our email list or following our Facebook farm page for updates.
Hatching Eggs
Do you guarantee hatch rates?
No. Hatch rates vary due to shipping conditions, incubation methods, and other factors beyond our control. While we monitor fertility within our breeding pens, fertility and hatch outcomes cannot be guaranteed for shipped eggs.
For full details, please review our Hatching Egg Policy and Shipping Information.
How fresh are the eggs?
Eggs are collected daily and orders are fulfilled on a rolling basis. Once a full dozen is gathered, orders ship within one business day. Most orders are fulfilled within 5–7 business days.
How are eggs packaged?
Eggs are carefully packaged to reduce movement and protect them during transit. Once shipped, handling and delivery conditions are outside our control.
For more information, please review our Shipping Info.
Can I request specific traits or sexes from hatching eggs?
No. While eggs come from intentional, clearly defined breeding pens, sex and individual traits cannot be guaranteed from hatching eggs.
Live Chicks (Chick Boxes)
How old are chicks when shipped?
Chicks are shipped at approximately 2–4 weeks of age. We do not ship day-old chicks.
How many chicks are in a Chick Box?
Each Chick Box includes six (6) chicks. Multiple boxes may be combined into one shipment when possible.
How are chicks shipped?
Chicks are shipped via USPS Live Animal Shipping and are held at the local Post Office for pickup upon arrival.
For details, please review our Live Chick Policy and Shipping Info.
When do you ship live chicks?
We ship live chicks on Mondays and Tuesdays only, and only when weather conditions are safe at both origin and destination. We do not ship during shortened federal holiday weeks.
What if weather is unsafe?
We reserve the right to delay or cancel shipments when conditions are unsafe. The wellbeing of the chicks always comes first.
Do you offer a live arrival guarantee?
Yes. Please review our Live Chick Policy for eligibility requirements and documentation guidelines.
What if a chick has cosmetic variation?
We selectively evaluate chicks before shipment. Chicks with significant deviations in comb type, toe count, color, or pattern are not included in standard listings. When available, birds with cosmetic variation may be offered separately as pet-quality selections.
Colors & Quality
What is the difference between standard and project colors?
- Standard colors are recognized Silkie breed standard colors.
- Project colors are developing lines that are not currently recognized by the breed standard. Project colors may show greater variation in color, pattern, or traits as lines continue to develop.
Are show-quality or breeder-quality birds guaranteed?
No. While we breed with intention and careful selection, Silkies are living animals and natural variation is expected.
The terms “show quality” and “breeder quality” are often misunderstood when applied to eggs or young chicks. In reality, show quality can only be determined when a bird matures and is evaluated against the breed standard in a competitive setting, and breeder quality can only be assessed once a bird’s structure, health, and traits fully develop.
For this reason, neither show quality nor breeder quality can be guaranteed for hatching eggs or young chicks. Meaningful breeding is a long-term process, where progress happens over generations, not seasons.
Will my chicks look exactly like the photos?
Photos shown are of our breeding birds and/or chicks from the listed color line. While they represent typical examples, individual birds may vary in shade, markings, and traits as they mature.
Shipping & Pickup
When will my order ship?
- Hatching eggs: Ship within one business day of completing collection.

What do I need to do when chicks arrive?
